Translation
Then Rama said to her,
the ascetic woman firm in her vows:
“Have you overcome all hindrances?
Does your penance grow?
Have you held in check your anger
and your food, lady rich in penance?
Have you kept your observances?
Is there ease in your mind?
Has your service to your teachers
borne fruit, sweet-spoken one?”

तपोधने, क्या आपने सब विघ्नों पर विजय पाई? क्या आपका तप बढ़ रहा है? क्या गुरुजनों की आपकी सेवा सफल हुई?

Lady rich in penance,
have you overcome every obstacle?

they rose from here to heaven,
those whom I served.

जब आप चित्रकूट पहुँचे, तब जिन महर्षियों की मैं सेवा करती थी, वे अनुपम प्रभा वाले विमानों में यहीं से स्वर्ग चले गए।

When you came to Chitrakuta,

“Rama will come to you,
to this most holy hermitage.
You must receive him as your guest,
with Saumitri at his side;
and when you have seen him, you will go
to the highest worlds, that never fade.”

उन्होंने मुझसे कहा था, ‘राम सौमित्र के साथ इस पवित्र आश्रम में आएँगे। उनका अतिथि-सत्कार करना। उनके दर्शन करके तुम अक्षय लोकों को जाओगी।’

See, like a dense mass of cloud,
teeming with deer and birds,
this forest, famed by the name
of Matanga’s forest, joy of the Raghus.
Here, radiant one, my teachers,
whose souls were made pure,
made offerings with mantras
at this sacred place, hallowed by mantras.

रघुनन्दन, मेघों-सा सघन, पशु-पक्षियों से भरा यह वन देखिए। यही मतंगवन है। यहीं मेरे पवित्रात्मा गुरु मन्त्रों से हवन करते थे।

आपने यह सारा वन देख लिया, सब सुन लिया। आपकी आज्ञा हो तो यह देह त्यागकर उन मुनियों के पास जाऊँ, जिनकी मैं सेविका थी।

You have seen this forest,
and heard all.
With your leave, I would give up this body,
and go to the sages I served.

with four monkeys at his side.
And I am eager to see him,
Sugriva, bull among monkeys,
for on him, gentle one,
rests the search for Sita.

उसके पास ही ऋष्यमूक पर्वत है, जहाँ सुग्रीव वाली के भय से सदा त्रस्त रहते हैं। मैं उनसे मिलने को आतुर हूँ, सीता की खोज उन्हीं पर निर्भर है।

लक्ष्मण, ये कमल की पंखुड़ियाँ सीता के नेत्रों जैसी लगती हैं। और वृक्षों के बीच से आती, कमल-केसर से सुगन्धित यह हवा सीता की साँस-सी बहती है।
