देखो! हर शस्त्र से सजा एक राक्षस, चार राक्षसों के साथ, इधर आ रहा है। हमें मारने आया है, इसमें संदेह नहीं।

Look: a rakshasa comes,

Translation
With reasons, with words
of many kinds, I showed him:
“Let Sita be given back to Rama,
it is right,” again and again.
But he would not take it,
Ravana, driven by Time,
told the words that were for his good,
as the dying refuse medicine.
लीला
बार-बार, तर्क दे-देकर, मैंने उसे समझाया: सीता को राम को लौटा दो। पर काल का प्रेरा, उसने हित की बात न मानी, जैसे मरने वाला औषधि नहीं मानता।

Again and again I told him:
give Sita back to Rama.

Translation
I, spoken to harshly by him,
shamed as if a slave,
leaving my sons and my wives,
have come to Raghava for refuge.
To the refuge of all the worlds,
to Raghava, the great-souled,
make me known, and quickly:
Vibhishana is here.

जान लीजिए, इसे रावण ने भेजा है। माया में छिपा यह, आपके भरोसा करते ही वार करेगा। राघव, इसे इसके मंत्रियों समेत कठोर दंड दीजिए।

Translation
At once, tiger among men,
let a spy be set upon him;
for, setting on him, as is fit,
a spy of subtle mind,
and testing him, then
let him be taken in, as is right.

नरव्याघ्र, इस पर तुरंत एक गुप्तचर लगाइए। पहले परखिए, फिर जैसा उचित हो, अपनाइए।

सुनते हैं, एक कपोत ने अपनी पत्नी को हरने वाले शत्रु का, जब वह शरण आया, विधिवत् सत्कार किया, और अपने ही माँस से उसे तृप्त किया। तो मुझ जैसे का क्या कहना?

Translation
When Raghava had given safety,
Ravana’s brother, bowing low,
came down from the sky to earth, glad,
with his devoted followers;
and he, the righteous Vibhishana,
fell down at Rama’s
feet, seeking refuge,
with the four rakshasas.
