Translation
The women of the inner rooms
went following him as he went,
with the old, the children, the maids,
the eunuchs and the servants.
Bharata went with his household,
and Shatrughna with him;
taking on Rama’s vow,
they followed Raghava.
Then great-souled brahmins,
with their sacred fires, composed,
with sons and wives, followed
Kakutstha, great of mind.
The ministers, the ranks of servants,
with their sons and with their kin,
with their followers, all
went after Raghava, as if in joy.
Then all the people,
ringed by glad and thriving folk,
followed Raghava as he went,
won over by his virtues.
Bathed, delighted, all of them,
glad, flower-decked, unsurpassed,
exultant with their shouts of joy,
all were following Rama.
No one there was downcast,
ashamed, or full of grief;
glad and joyful were they all:
it was a wonder beyond words.
The country folk, who came
to see the king go forth,
seeing it, they too followed
along with all the rest.

all were glad,
