Little is left of this task;
I have seen the dark-eyed lady.
Passing over the three means,
the fourth is what shows itself here.
Soft words do no good with rakshasas;
gifts do not work with those heaped with wealth;
people proud of their strength are not won by division;
here it is force that pleases me.

I have no friendship with Kubera,
nor was I sent by Vishnu.
This is simply what I am by birth:
a monkey, I have come here.
Since the lord of rakshasas
was hard to see,
I laid waste this grove of the king
in order to see him.”
