Krauncha

Valmiki · Bala Kanda
1.2.3–15 (CrEd 1.2.3–14)

தமிழ் · விரைவில் வருகிறது · The Tamil is coming

After Narada has gone back to the world of the gods, Valmiki goes with his pupil Bharadvaja to bathe at a clear ford of the Tamasa, near the Ganga. Wandering in the forest, he sees a pair of krauncha birds, never apart, and a Nishada hunter bent on evil kills the male before his eyes. Moved by pity at the hen’s cry, and judging the deed wrong, the sage speaks a curse on the hunter.
