தமிழ் · விரைவில் வருகிறது · The Tamil is coming

Worn out from searching the south, the monkeys follow birds wet with water into a dark cave and come upon a golden forest made by the danava Maya. There the ascetic Swayamprabha, who guards it for her friend Hema, feeds them and hears their errand. The time Sugriva set has run out; at Hanuman's plea she has them close their eyes and lifts them out of the cave in an instant, to the shore of the great ocean.

English

Through lands enmeshed in hills we have searched
the southern quarter, all of it;
we are all of us worn out,
and Maithili I do not see.
Yet out of this cave fly geese,
and cranes, and sarus cranes with them,
and chakravakas wet with water,
streaming out on every side.
Surely there is water here,
a well, or else a lake;
and so these trees at the cave’s mouth
stand lush and green.

one clad in bark and black deerskin,
an ascetic, sparing in food,
as if ablaze with radiance.

His wife, from Janasthana,
Ravana carried off by force …
We searched, all of us,
the whole of the southern quarter;
hungry and worn out,
we sat at the foot of a tree.
Pale-faced, all of us,
all of us lost in thought,
we could not reach the farther shore,
sunk in a great ocean of worry.

this dreadful cave: it is yours to do …

while we have dwelt here.
