The demon in the cave

Valmiki · Kishkindha Kanda
4.8.41–4.9.13 (CrEd 4.8.40–4.9.13)

தமிழ் · விரைவில் வருகிறது · The Tamil is coming

Rama asks Sugriva the true cause of his enmity with Vali, and promises to strike down his enemy. Sugriva tells how Vali, his elder brother, became king of the vanaras, and how the asura Mayavi came roaring to the gate of Kishkindha one night. The brothers chased him by moonlight to a great cleft in the earth, and Vali, going in after him, told Sugriva to stand guard at its mouth.
